Here's a look at this year's Turnips, new and old.
QB Philip Rivers

I took Rivers with my first pick (pick #29). I did this fully expecting regression from last year's season. I considered taking PPR-machine Wes Welker here and hoping Rivers would fall to round 4, but I didn't want to risk it. It's a good thing, because I got confirmation that another owner would have taken him the same round. I've taken a QB in this round all 3 years, with mixed results: Brady two years ago, Roethlisberger last year. This year I expect Rivers to regress, but beyond that, I feel he's low risk. He was the best QB on the board, and the QB's I rank immediately behind him both had causes for concern. (Aaron Rodgers being on film for D-coordinators, Warner being old). He's also an NC State alum and one of my favorite players.
QB Jason Campbell

Campbell actually went undrafted in the league. I used my last two picks on Shaun Hill and Brady Quinn. I eventually dropped Quinn for Campbell and Hill for a kicker. It's a touch decision. Hill outscored him on a per-game basis last year, but is no longer playing in Martz's system. As a first-rounder who has barely played, Quinn has a lot of upside, but a lot of downside as well. As I mentioned in my Redskins preview, I expect Campbell to take a big step forward this year, so he's my guy.
TE Antonio Gates

Took Gates with my second pick (pick #43). I grew attached to Zach Miller last year and kind of wanted him back as a very late pick, but Gates should be one of the two best TE's this year. Needless to say, I will really enjoy Rivers-to-Gates touchdowns this year.
WR Reggie Wayne

Reggie is the identity of the Deadly Space Turnips! In year one, I traded Housh and McGahee for Mr. Wayne and Marshawn..and he's been a keeper twice in a row now. He's consistently great.
WR Greg Jennings

I took Greg Jennings with my 2nd pick a year ago, and he put up such a great season last year that I kept him this year. It wasn't just the numbers, he really became an awesome go-to receiver.
WR Ted Ginn Jr.
Ted running track..apparently in Raleigh..regardless...go pack!
I've owned Ginn now for all 3 of his NFL seasons. Haven't kept him, just keep drafting him. He's fast, a good kick returner, and is still improving as a receiver.
WR Percy Harvin

Percy is a rookie, and he's my new toy (and Brett Favre's new toy). He's a home run threat everytime he gets the ball, and will be used as a kick returner, wildcat back, and receiver. Normally I avoid rookie receivers, but it's looking clear that the Vikings need to use Harvin right away.
WR Domenik Hixon

The cloudiness of NYG's receiving situation seems to be holding Hixon's average draft position down. To me he's going to be their #1 guy, like he was last year when Plaxico was lost...so I think I got a bargain for him in the at pick #125.
RB Darren Sproles

Sproles should have a bigger role in the offense this year, is being paid like a top 5 RB, and is a great KR/PR. Plus, gotta root for the short fellas.
RB Leon Washington

Leon Washington is great at what he does. KR/PR, excellent change of pace back and receiver. I hope he is used like a taller Sproles.
RB Felix Jones
This is not Felix Jones.
I coveted this guy last year, but didn't get him, and then he got hurt. He's ridiculously talented, a dangerous kick returner, and has room to improve his skill as a back.
RB Jerious Norwood

Jerious, there's a rumor that you're illiterate, so these pictures are for you man. But if you can read leave me a comment, bro. He was on my team last year, getting solid points by giving Turner a breather, and returning kicks. His production should go up some this year, since he'll be used more in the wildcat, and Turner is a bit of an injury risk.

All in all it should be a fun season. They're a great team that deserves to be chronicled in this blog. There will be updates throughout the season, starting with week 1: a matchup with the always tough ZULU NATION.
